Hanson Cement Teesside Works

Hanson Cement re-opened it’s ground granulated blast furnace after being moth balled in 2009. Emphasis was on site safety and the brief stipulated the radio system had to ensure the employees safety around site.

The Hytera system we chose to deploy had a range of features such as man down and lone worker. Software loaded onto a PC recorded audio and stored a radio user log to include power up, power down, radio transmit etc.

Regular servicing ensured the equipment remained in good working order with minimal down time and the full compliment of equipment available at all times.

What system did we supply, and why?

We supplied a digital Hytera two way radio system that incorporated a PC based dispatcher software system for a complete solution. The radio types chosen were durable, robust, and were feature rich – ideal for this type of working environment.

This equipment was chosen based upon a number of factors:

  • rugged and durable hand portables
  • long battery life
  • IP rated for outdoor use

We also provided carry cases, and remote speaker microphones to ensure the equipment was easy to operate and audible due to the level of background noise.
